A Public Interactive Kiosk

Project Type

Architecture Project

Date

December 2021

The project involved meticulous hand-drawn designs for the creation of a community kiosk, strategically crafted to accommodate sales of The Big Issue magazine alongside coffee offerings. The design approach focused on optimizing spatial layout to harmoniously integrate essential components including a coffee machine, storage facilities, and a singular seating area tailored for individual comfort.

Central to the design philosophy was the emphasis on public interaction, pivotal for fostering community engagement and ensuring the viability of the business concept.

Early in the project, our collaborative efforts leveraged measurements derived from commonplace architectural elements such as windows, doors, and stairs. These dimensions served as foundational principles guiding our initial concept models, thereby facilitating the development of subsequent design iterations.

Through an iterative process driven by individual contributions, utilising the conceptual framework from wearable architecture to a fully functional kiosk design. This methodical approach not only fulfilled aesthetic and functional imperatives but also seamlessly integrated the final design into its environment, presenting a unified synthesis of form and function.
